Another Live & Local event with NVRC

Yup - I adore my North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission peeps! Such a lovely and fun gang. I'm one very lucky crafty gal! I got to work with them again last week for their Village Beat installment in the Live and Local Concerts and Culture Series in Lynn Valley Village. We upcycled tin cans into drums and shakers.

Here's my sample... A tin can filled with a bit of rice or dried lentils then the top part of a balloon over the open end of the tin can. I decorated it with funky duct tape and paper. And that was it! Easy peasy DIY and it was a big hit!

The band playing was the perfect match for the DIY. They were a very interactive trio who were also using tin cans as additions to the other instruments they brought.

The balloons were a hit too! Tin can shakers, balloons and some groovy tunes... This was my FAV evening in the Village thus far.

So many cutie patooties making craft magic, blowing up balloons and having a blast.

My friend Cielo with her daughter shaking it up. Ya gotta love how funky duct tape is getting! It really helped dress up those tin can shakers!

And that was it! It was too busy to take a lot of photos... And my fingers were tired from all of the balloon stretching. This was one of those DIYs that I'll be doing again for other upcycling workshops!

Thanks to all the crafters who came out and really got into the tin can shakers... And so much love and gratitude to NVRC and Lynn Valley Village for crafting with me.
