Upcycling t-shirts with the City of Richmond

This Saturday was my 'Repurpose Old T-Shirts or Skirts' workshop with the City of Richmond. We had a new locale - South Arm Community Centre. It's a gorgeous spot!

We had 8 participants ready and raring to go. We first created t-shirt yarn then used it to make macrame planters. This was a last minute project to help me get rid of all my random glass containers.

We also created headbands and scarves with the t-shirt yarn. With the extra t-shirts, we made super simple reusable bags. Everyone left with 3-5 completed projects and a ton of craft mojo.

My helper Vivian with her Mom... Vivan's Mom totally got into the upcycling. She was beyond industrious leaving with 5 completed DIYs. Awesome!

We even ended the workshop with a bit of braiding.

It was so lovely to see my City of Richmond peeps! And I may be taking on more workshops... I might be teaching paper making. We'll see!

Big thanks to Emy from the City of Richmond... I've been working with her for a few years and she's a dynamo! Next City of Richmond 'Repurpose Old T-Shirts or Skirts' workshop is June 5th.
