DIY wool sweater Xmas ornaments

Making Xmas ornaments out of felted wool sweaters is easy and fun... It's also great for using up scrap wool pieces and miscellaneous buttons. First step - making a quick 'pattern'. Wool ornament number one is a bird...

I cut out a front and back piece of wool then picked out two buttons for the eyes plus stitched up a beak.

I added wings then stitched up the edges and filled the ornament with eco fill. I used scrap yarn to hang the ornament with.

So I now have three sample projects for my upcoming Crafternoons... I'm on a roll!

I decided to make another wool ornament after a trek to the Lions Gate Thrift Store. I picked up a few buttons for $0.50 then a couple of necklaces at 50% off. Dealorama!

Each of these necklaces were under $2. Can't wait to use them for a project!

I used a couple of my buttons for an owl ornament.

They had 'MEXX' written on the front so I used the back. I love the two different sizes for the eyes.

I added turquoise felt for the wings, white felt for the beak and then yellow felt for the feet. Super cute!

I think I like my bird ornament better although owls are pretty trendy these days. He'll find a happy home I'm sure!

Now time to move on to cereal box ornaments...
