Etsy 2014 Craft Party with Poppytalk
Today was a FAB day for crafting, meeting new peeps and checking out the new Poppytalk store. I went to the Etsy 2014 Craft Party held in the Poppytalk store at 109 East Broadway.
The Etsy Craft Party is a one-day celebration of meeting and making. This year's theme focused on transforming photographs into display-worthy works of art using a variety of craft supplies and creative techniques. We embroidered old photos, drank lemonade, ate cupcakes and connected with other local crafters. So much fun!
I got there a bit early so took a chance to peruse the store. It's a darn pretty set up.
Loads of nifty finds...
Super cute!
Here are our supplies - embroidery floss, needles, scissors and old photos.
And yummy cupcakes and donuts thanks to Coco Cake Land... So much for a healthy lunch! I ended up drinking lemonade and eating a cupcake!
I used one of the photos Jan from Poppytalk supplied as my tester.
I coloured the umbrella, added some waves then a bright frame. Fun! And easy.
Next I started on a print a friend sent me. She's an artist in Edmonton who sent me a few of her latest and greatest prints. I thought it would neat to embroider one.
The kewl thing about the Craft Party was meeting people I had connected with via social media like Instagram. Putting a face to an online persona was really great! And now I have over 200 followers. Yay!
Now to prep for the upcycling workshops that are part of the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire. It's all happenin'!
