Sunshine Coast thrifting adventures

I took a quick trip to the Sunshine Coast this weekend - Friday night to Saturday afternoon. I went to see a few of my most favourite peeps... Marnie and her daughters, Maaike and Pippa.

Saturday Marnie and I had girl time so we went thrifting then ate sugary things with very yummy coffee at the Sheer Bliss Bakery Cafe (1001 Gibsons Way, Gibsons, BC). What a FAB day!

First stop was the Community Treasures Thrift Shop (731 North Road, Gibsons, BC). I haven't been here in ages and there were tons of funky finds. Like this old mattress cover. Very fun pattern and the fabric was in perfect shape.

Here's a cute idea for salvaged wood. Looks like a painted and stitched design using canvas that's then nailed to the wood.

After that we hit the Salvation Army Thrift Store (Suite 7-682 Highway 101, Gibsons, BC) and then the Prancing Pony Community Thrift Shop (1014 Venture Way, Gibsons, BC). There are three pretty good thrift shops in Gibsons which is super nifty! Unfortunately I was not finding anything really worthy. Total bummer!

I had to drop by the Gibsons Recycling Depot (1012 Venture Way, Gibsons, BC). This is where my crafty and upcycling adventures began.

You just never know what you can find at the recycling depot!

And so it was time for a much needed coffee! Here's my BFF Marnie. She's pretty darn fabulous. We're having uber delicious sugary treats and caffeine at the Sheer Bliss Bakery Cafe.

Yup we're two cutie patooties. We hit Molly's Lane after thrifting and our caffeinated break. I did end up buying a gorgeous purple and pink scarf here. Just need spring to hit then I'll be all happening with my swanky new scarf.

So my big finds for the day... This is really sad! I spent $0.55 and all I managed to find was a bunch of buttons and a metal 'thing'. Better luck next time I suppose!

On my way home I hit the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in North Vancouver. I'm making a jewelry organizer for a friend. I paid a few bucks for all of this. My buddy even cut the wood for me. Kewl!

Today I'm off to finish up the jewelry organizer... I need shorter screws and to finish drilling and sanding. I'm hoping spring will happen soon then I can fix up furniture outside. Happy day!
